“David (A level Chemistry) Throughout studying A-level Chemistry there where a few mistakes that I had repeatedly seen in my-self, with one being falling into the trap of learning the content in the textbook and trying to apply this knowledge straight onto exam questions. After joining Dave’s lesson my confidence where not at a high standard than what it is now. I had been taught to understand how Chemistry works and why things happen in a certain way. This has allowed me to slowly fill in the gaps between Physical, Inorganic and Organic Chemistry and soon came to realise that certain topics all linked into each other and in this way allowed me to build a bigger picture of the subject. Although, understanding the subject had boosted my grade I had to also practice what I had learnt. Luckily, with Dave being an examiner he provided me with exam questions every week. In this way I had booth the resources and an examiner that had worked with me to help spot my mistakes and give further tips on picking up those last few marks. Swarna (A level Biology) Although Biology was a subject that I absolutely enjoyed it has not been an easy journey for me, due to the particulate nature of mark schemes. Understanding the content had fairly been easy as I had been taught in a way in which I was informed on areas where majority of the marks where awarded in the exam and the type of language that had been used in the mark scheme. Alongside, the supportive nature of my biology lessons I was also provided with many exam questions that where geared towards all the possible types of questions that could be asked in the exam in every biology lesson. Completing these exam questions that where tailored towards my weaknesses and going through my answers one-to-one and comparing it with the mark scheme has allowed me to understand the type of language used and in this way I was able to spot patterns and apply this to exam questions. Over time I had gained further confidence in the subject and has allowed me to gain marks that majority of students in my school where not able to. If it was not for the support I had received from Swarna both in lessons and outside of lessons I wouldn’t be where I am today.”,
